HGB Canada Radio - HGB Canada Radio was founded in 2016 and was fully licensed and operational by 2017 under the direction of Carla Bonnell. It boasted 15 live Radio DJ's and was the first radio streaming station licensed under Socan as far as we were made aware of. Many other stations followed with this new form of radio and licensing. What does playing on a licenses radio station mean for the artist? It means that you will receive royalties from your professional bodies! As a licensed station we pay a yearly fee to Socan who has agreements all over the world with other professional bodies (ex. ASCAP, BMI) and they distribute the royalties back to the artist. It is very important to have your information tagged on your track ( your studio engineer should be doing this) so that your music does not get lost in the shuffle. No pun intended! Hidden Gems Broadcasting was revamped in 2018 and was renamed HGB Canada Radio as we went from manual to automation. We continue to have live shows, but now we don't have to worry about servers and manually turning on and off the station due to limits on bandwidth!
